Kanzan Hishida (菱田観山, Hishida Kanzan) is a fictional character from the Tough manga series. He is one of Yuugenshinkage-ryuu's Heavenly Kings of Death.

Personality[]

He is proud of having the greatest speed and stealth of the Heavenly Kings of Death, and also has a great deal of courage too, opting to fight Sonou Miyazawa on top of a construction site in the middle of the night. He also displays a tactical way of thinking, as he prefers to weaken his opponents by doing things like obscuring their vision by getting their own blood into the eyes by cutting above their eyebrows.

Appearance[]

He is a very short dark-haired man with a wide nose and prominent cheekbones. His hair is styled into a flat mohawk, and he dresses up in a ninja like fashion, wearing a sleeveless gi with hakama trousers and a pair of jika-tabi as well as a pair of bandages wrapped around his forearms.

History[]

Tough[]

Kanzan is introduced saving Phantom Joe from Mikogami's wrath. While Mikogami desperately fought, Kanzan just played with him. After Mikogami's arm was cut off, he tried to run. Kanzan admitted that he had nothing personal against Mikogami and even promised to kill him quickly. As a last ditch effort Mikogami revealed his grenade launcher but still proved to be too slow for Kanzan and ended up getting his head crushed.

During the succession process Kanzan challenged Sonou Miyazawa on a big construction and actually proved his superior. Kanzan was able to get him in a hold and perform Zoukai. Realizing he couldn't get out, Sonou jumped off, deciding to take Kanzan with him for the fall. The match ended up being declared a draw as both men escaped.

When Kiryuu Miyazawa going after Shunsou Yokoyama and Seiko going after Kakugo Kasukabe, Sonou went after Kanzan for a rematch. To make sure they weren't seen they fought in a cave. While impressed by Sonou's speed and skill he wasn't worried as he was still much faster. After Sonou escaped the Mist of Four technique, he then pushed it a step further so that even Kanzan couldn't follow him. Realizing that he wouldn't be able to defeat Sonou if he didn't use everything he has, Kanzan used Zoukai, limiting Sonou's moves and slowing him down at the same time. In his weakened state Kanzan's speed was too much for Sonou and he knocked him out with a vicious knee to the face. However, he ended up passing out shortly afterwards.

He later woke up in the hospital along with Sonou, Seiko, and Kiryuu. Kiichi asked where Kakugo was only for Kanzan to say he had no idea. However, he didn't fully dodge the Kaishuken and Sonou forced him to tell were Kakugo was or die, so he told them that Kakugo went to Onikuijima no Tengu.

Abilities[]

The core of Kanzan's technique is the fact that no one is able to see or catch his body. To achieve this he has perfected the Mourouken over the past 20 years to the point where his agility can't even be compared to how he was back in the day. He can completely disappear right in front of any human that stands before him. In addition, he has also trained his elbow where before he couldn't even cut through flesh he can now completely cut up a person with this.

Trivia[]

  • His title comes from the Kamaitachi, a mythical weasel in Japanese folklore that moves with speeds and make it invisible to the naked eye as it slices up travelers, similar to his Mourouken Kirigasumi technique.
